Stones are an exciting and new way to decorate any garden. They can be used in a variety of ways to either decorate a flower bed or create a stone wall. Building this wall is a very straight forward process and can be completed in a few steps.

Step One
Choose large rocks and stones that are flat and fit in nicely with the current design of the garden. There is no point picking stones that will not compliment every thing else.

Step Two
Mix some normal planting soil with some compost. This will form the base. Use a small bit of gravel that will create small holes in the mixture to help drainage. This is the most important step because the base mixture will take the weight of every thing.

Step Three
Dig a trench along the area to be used for the wall. Fill it with the created base mixture and flatten it. The base should be soft and versatile that will allow natural adaptation.

Step Four
Layer the rocks. Put about an inch of the base mixture between each layer as you go. Repeat this process until you are happy with the height of the wall.

Step Five
Cover the wall in grass and herb seeds. This will allow vegetation to grow all over the wall and you can easily water this by pouring water on the top of the wall, as it will naturally drain downwards.
