Whether we are talking about living room furniture, kitchen furniture or office furniture, the upholstery requires proper care in order for it to last. Caring for upholstery also involves keeping it clean, sparkling and looking good.
There are various products on the market that can be used for waterproofing and stain sealing of the fabrics on three piece suites. These products are important, since they keep the upholstery clean, stain free and looking good. Many are stocked by furniture retailers, though cheaper alternatives can be sourced from home improvement shops. The cheaper products are usually sprays, which are easy and convenient to apply to the fabrics and though they generally carry no warranty they are, for the most part, just as effective.
When upholstery becomes stained one of the options is to use a spray cleaner, but this should only be as a last resort and this is especially so for microfiber fabrics. For the best results, when removing a stain or stains from such a fabric, the cleaning needs to be done by using a damp piece of cloth. An old discarded toothbrush can also be utilised, together with a solution composed of water and some soap, either liquid soap or dish soap. The stain should be cleaned in circular motions and only a little of the solution should be used, because over saturating may result in patches being left after the fabric has dried.
As for pillows, the only way to prevent them from appearing old and saggy is adding more filler foam, which can be obtained from most furniture stores.
