If you have just purchased a new leather bed, you are fully justified in being proud of your purchase. After all, it is an investment that has probably cost you a pretty penny, so you will naturally want to protect it and ensure that it lasts as long as possible.
The most important thing that you can do to preserve the integrity of your leather bed is to keep it away from any direct heat source such as radiators or fireplaces. You may also want to make sure that it is placed in an area where direct sunlight does not fall upon it. Doing this will lessen the chances of wear and fading.
A leather bed is pretty hardy and durable, although you will still have to clean it from time to time. In most cases, going over the surface with a soft cloth should suffice. If your leather bed has stubborn stains, or smears from food or drinks, you may have to use a slightly dampened piece of cloth and a very mild soap. Stains that are more difficult to remove may require the use of a good leather- cleaning product.
In order to prolong the life of your leather bed, you may want to apply leather conditioner to the bed before using for the first time, with follow-up applications every four months. Complete your leather bed maintenance with a good leather cleaning product, being careful to follow the product manufacturer’s directions.
